Arts Institutions

Singapore has two private arts institutions which offer education in the arts for post-secondary students. These institutions are the LASALLE College of the Arts and the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA).

LASALLE College of the Arts is an accredited institution of The Open University, the largest university in the United Kingdom. LASALLE offers comprehensive courses in disciplines such as Film, Design, Media Arts, Arts Management, Fine Arts, Art History, Dance, Fashion, Music, Theatre and Art Therapy. It maintains standards which are on par with those of internationally recognised universities in the UK.

NAFA was set up in 1938 with just 14 fine art students. Since then, it has counted a long list of performers, artists, designers and more among its graduates. The school offers certificate and diploma courses in fashion studies, and the visual and performing arts. It offers BA, MA and MSc programmes formed through joint partnerships with universities located in the United States, United Kingdom and China.

The School of the Arts is the nation's first independent, pre-tertiary arts school to offer a unique connected arts and academic curriculum for youths aged 13-18.. An initiative by the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts (MICA), the School of the Arts is a dedicated development path at the pre-tertiary level for those who have interest and show early talent in the arts, providing a dynamic learning environment where both their artistic and academic potential can best be realised.
