International Schools

International Schools for foreign students

Singapore’s vision to be the “Boston of the East” has paved the way for the growth of many international schools  and degree programmes that cater to both local and foreign students.

International schools generally model their education systems on the ones adopted by their home countries - some right down to the semester dates and scholarship awards.

The Singapore Tourism Board has a dedicated Student Services Department – known as the Singapore Education Services Centre.  The centre provides access to reliable and useful information for all international students.

Admission criteria

Each school has its own requirements. Students are usually accepted based on criteria  such as nationality, age and language proficiency. According to the Singapore Education website, annual school fees range from S$4,600 to S$14,000 for lower grades and S$6,000 to S$18,000 for upper grades.

Student Pass and Visa

Every foreign student has to apply for an annual Student Pass, unless he or she already holds a Dependent Pass (DP) or an Immigration Exemption Order (IEO). Before obtaining a Student Pass, he or she must pass a mandatory medical examination. Students from selected countries will also need to apply for a visa. For more details, visit the Immigration and Checkpoint Authority website.
