Since its inception, APEC has been active in its efforts to promote economic growth and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region. A key milestone was the setting up in 1994 of the Bogor Goals, which aim for ‘free and open trade and investment in the Asia-Pacific by 2010 for developed economies and 2020 for developing economies’.
