Youth Olympic Games

The brightest sporting event on Singapore’s horizon is the first Youth Olympic Games (YOG), to be held in 2010.

Initiated by the International Olympic Committee, the YOG will be an Olympic Games for 14 to 18-year-olds.

As the first host city, Singapore is expecting some 3,200 athletes and 800 officials from 14 to 26 August 2010.

There will be 26 sports featured, including novel ones such as beach wrestling and BMX biking, to showcase the best in sporting achievements among youths worldwide.

Singapore opened the Youth Olympic Games Learning Centre at 1 Kay Siang Road (off Tanglin Road) in October 2008. Visitors to the centre can learn more about the Olympic movement, Olympic values, the 26 sports of the YOG, and Singapore's journey towards hosting the first YOG.
