A Logo for Human Rights

Logos win people over through their symbolic power, visibility, recognizability, comprehensibility (a picture is worth 1000 words) and universal applicability.

Singapore together with Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, Chile, the Czech Republic, Germany, Mauritius, Indonesia, Senegal and Uruguay are keen to contribute to this effort in cooperation with key players in the Human Rights community and other international actors. The goal of the joint action is to create a Logo for Human Rights that will bolster Human Rights around the globe.

How it will work
The Logo will be chosen in a global contest conducted via the Internet. This will allow everyone both to submit their own designs and to vote on the winning logo. The contest itself will help raise awareness of the Initiative and encourage universal acceptance of the winning logo, highlighting the need for the global and indivisible protection of human rights and ensuring basic democratic legitimacy. Eminent persons will be invited to lend their support to the Initiative (Jury).

The Contest
A manageable number of 100 logos will be pre-selected from the entries submitted. The Jury of Eminent Persons representing the world’s major population groups as well as human rights advocates and committed celebrities will shortlist 10 logos from the preselection. The 10 logos will then be put to an online vote open for everyone to participate.
